We always said that our society grew in this last 50 years faster than we could have ever predict. I now want to speak in the name of the young generations, born in the late 90s. Most of us are still in our education process, which is the period where we form ourselves and we create the print we will then stamp on our sons and daughters. The aim of this blog will be to report some cases showing that, maybe, the models we rely on, since the seventies (which are still taught in the MBAs by the way) are now ready to be changed. We take inspiration from the ideas of the Blue Economy and its head member, professor Gunter Pauli. In them, we see lots of transformations with entrepreneurship and innovative applications. “Life is about flows not about stuff we have. Water in a tank turns bad. Water that flows gives life. Money in banks turn toxic, it must flow ” Gunter Pauli. Our added value is to connect these win-win situations that nature gives us, to the digital transformation.
What this Blue Economy wants to do is to create a new factory system, a new sustainable Industrial Model with 0 emissions, 0 impact on the environment by only using what we have. It is a transformation that business can do because it generates cash-flow, has positive environmental impact and puts our society back in line with nature. The cases are very practical and most of them are already applied in the many companies respecting Blue Economy principles. In fact, nature has been working for over 4 million years so we just need to read it and not destroy it.
We also know that the words "sustainability", "environmental respect" and "nature" make, unfortunately, many of us feel bored and they are too often subject to unsustainable repetition. Yet, we are attempting to convey this important information in a way in which you might become as mind-blown as we are. Do you really have no hope that the world will get back to a healthy status? To us, pollution, unsustainable, and nature destruction will remain as a terrible period. We’ll call it “World War Nature”, but it is true that after wars we always have grown stronger.
Thus, to obtain a notion of Blue Economy easily, we will use the most clear example (MBA not needed): PAPER. Paper is insane! 200 trees, tons of water for paper. Engineers (the world’s superheroes) found a way to create so-called “stone paper” from coal mining waste along with plastic bottles called. They thought “out of the box”. The cost of coal mining waste is below zero, you are actually paid to take it away. It applies to plastic, too. In two years every book in china’s schools will be made of stone paper.
Stone paper is 100% reusable and waterproof. It is also more resistant than paper and doesn’t degrade since it is made out of a mineral! This means book editors can have it back (no need to de-ink) , and thus for them Paper won't be a cost anymore but an Asset! MIND-BLOWING! BOOM! Why don’t we want to change. No water, no trees, no cost in materials but Assets, just more than perfect. Recycling is stealing less.
Focus on doing things. Stranded Assets, use what is there!
We need people to work on subjects we still don’t know about.
